Presiding Elder Rev. Dr. Joesph Brown and First Lady Sandra Brown
Born in New Bern, NC to the late Robert and Gladys Brown.
He graduated from Jones Senior High School in Trenton, North Carolina; graduated from Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina; attended Southeastern Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, NC; Rehabilitation Institute and Shaw Divinity School, Raleigh, NC.
He was licensed to preach on August 19, 1970 at Clinton Chapel A M E Zion Church, Pollocksville, North Carolina, Ordained Deacon 1973 and Ordained Elder 1976.
He is a Thirty-second Degree Mason with Prince Hall Mason and a Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc and NAACP.
Some of his awards are: Past President –Fayetteville Cumberland County Ministerial Council; Juvenile Law Study Commission; Member Presiding Elders Council A M E Zion Church; Chairman Committee on Holy Orders – Central North Carolina Conference A M E Zion Church; Governor’s Meritorious Award Church and Community Leader (1988); State of North Carolina Order of the Long Leaf Pine (1995); Received North Carolina Council of Churches Distinguished Service Award (May 2004); State of North Carolina Order of the Long Leaf Pine (2010); and Received Honorary Doctorate of Divinity in Ministry from Livingstone College 5/4/2019.
He has pastored 10 churches in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church starting with Kyles Chapel in Benson, NC to Evans Metropolitan Church in Fayetteville North Carolina. He was appointed Presiding Elder of The Dunn Lillington District from 2009 to 2016 and currently is the Presiding Elder of The Fayetteville District.
He is married to the former Sandra Phillips and they have one son Joseph C. Brown, Jr. (Joey) and he is married to LeeAnne Q. Brown. He has two grandchildren Jada Mackenzie Brown and Joseph Bernard Brown (JB).
