Reverend Dr. Frazier was ordained a Deacon in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church at the Central North Carolina Annual Conference on November 7, 1993, by Bishop Herman L. Anderson. He rose to the office of Elder and received his second ordination a year later from Bishop George Edward Battle, Jr. at the Central North Carolina Annual Conference on November 7, 1994. Reverend Dr. Frazier has served each appointment with the same commitment, dedication, and zeal that he freely currently exhibits in the Durham District.
Reverend Dr. Frazier’s former pastorates include the historic Broadway Temple A. M. E. Zion Church in Louisville of the Kentucky Conference. Prior to that appointment, Reverend Dr. Frazier served various pastoral charges throughout the Central North Carolina Conference, namely: Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church, Spring Lake, NC.; Evans Metropolitan A. M. E. Zion Church in Fayetteville, NC; Trinity A.M. E. Zion Church, Southern Pines, NC; Spaulding Chapel A. M. E. Zion Church, Taylortown; Interim Pastor of Macedonia and Saint Paul A. M. E.ZionChurches, Gulf and Cumnock, NC; Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church in Birmingham Alabama; and Reaves Chapel A. M. E. Zion Church, Glendon, NC. Dr. Frazier supplied Saint Matthews (2018), Corinth A.ME. Zion Church (2022), Gees Grove A.ME. Zion Church (2023); Russell A.ME. Zion Church, Ebenezer A.ME. Zion Church, Blacknall A.ME. Zion Church, and Long Memorial A.ME. Zion Church. Reverend Dr. Frazier’s leadership and accomplishments are evident in his notable pastoral experience.
On November 14, 2011, Dr. Frazier accepted the mantle of leadership as Presiding Elder of the Sanford District by Bishop Richard Keith Thompson, the 86th Bishop in succession of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. The Sanford District is comprised of 22 churches that cover four counties: Lee, Chatham, Moore, and Harnett, which are at the heart of the Central North Carolina Conference. However, on June 22, 2018, at the Eastern North Carolina Episcopal District Institute, Bishop Kenneth Monroe, the 95th Bishop in succession, appointed Dr. Ricky Donnell Frazieras the Presiding Elder of the Durham District. Dr. Frazier has rapidly become fully involved in the work of the Durham District, which is comprised of 25 churches that cover six counties: Durham, Chatham, Orange, Randolph, Wake, and Lee.
Dr. Frazier also demonstrates leadership in his academic pursuits by the following noted accomplishments: In May 2007, he completed his doctoral studies at Hood Theological Seminary, Salisbury, NC; in May 2002, Master of Divinity degree from Hood Theological Seminary, Salisbury, NC; Bachelor of Science degree from Livingstone College, Salisbury, NC, and a Diploma of Ministry from Hood Theological Seminary Salisbury, North Carolina.
Dr. Frazier’s community and civic involvement include the following: Formal Lee County Commissioner, The Founder of the Peace Coalition, Formal Member of the Enrichment Center of Lee County, Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, Board Member of “No Man Left Behind”, National Association of Black County Officials (NABCO), member of the Board of Communication of the A.M.E. Zion Church, Secretary of the C.N.C.C. Presiding Elder’s Council, Chairman of the Central N.C. Conference Trustees, the treasurer for the Central North Carolina Conference; Member of the Board of Trustees for Central Carolina Community College, Formal Member of the Board of Trustees for Clinton College, Rock Hill SC; received the highest award in Kentucky, the Kentucky Colonel Saunders Award, Featured in the “Who’s Who” Edition and numerous other Awards and Honors.
Reverend Dr. Ricky Donnell Frazier is married to the former Diane Goldston and is a life-long member of Macedonia African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church located in Gulf, North Carolina.
